General Purpose Deck Rating/Purser (2 Posts) - Westray/Papa Westray - FER2534

Two vacancies exist for General Purpose Deck Rating/Purser to serve on board Orkney Ferries vessels, primarily on the route above, however you will be required to cover on other routes as required

Duties will be varied between deck rating, ticket collector or cook as required, this post will require a high level of interaction with the travelling public.

The Rota for this is 2 weeks on/2 weeks off plus an additional 4 week’s annual leave per complete year served.

Certification required for this position is as detailed below, however training will be provided if a candidate does not hold any/or some of the certifications:

  • EDH certificate.
  • Valid ENG 1 medical certificate.
  • STCW PSSR.
  • STCW Elementary First Aid.
  • STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats.
  • STCW Personal Survival Techniques.
  • STCW Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (3-day course).

Candidates should ideally also hold STCW Crowd Management, STCW Crisis Management and Human behaviour, STCW Passenger Safety Cargo Safety and Hull Integrity certification and Elementary Food Hygiene certificate but training for these can be provided for the successful candidate, if required.

The salary scale is £31,907 to £36,527 pa plus DIA £2,859, subject to qualifications and experience.

The Company operates a contributory pension scheme currently at 15% and a sick pay scheme.

Mate - ONI Services - FER2535

Vacancies have arisen for Mates on our Outer North Isle Services, however you will be required to cover on other routes as required.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced officers to fill this post. Applicants must hold as minimum:

  • Minimum entry requirement, STCW Reg. II/2 Chief mate near coastal less than 3000 GT Consideration will be given to candidates with a higher qualification.
  • GMDSS GOC.
  • Valid ENG1.
  • Updated STCW Personal Survival Techniques.
  • Updated STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Advanced.
  • Updated STCW Advanced Fire Fighting.
  • Updated STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats.
  • Updated STCW Medical first aid.

Ideally candidates should also hold the following, but training will be provided for the right candidate.

  • STCW Crowd Management.
  • STCW Passenger Safety, Cargo Safety and Hull Integrity.
  • STCW Crisis Management and Human Behaviour.

The successful candidate will be required to adhere to the company’s policies, including the Drug and Alcohol Policy which includes provision for random testing without cause.

Salary: £52,109 - £55,246 pa plus DIA £2,859 subject to qualifications and experience.
